Ways to get help while you work:
- Handy Tool Tips
for each field on every screen. When you hover in a particular field, Geni gives you hints about the information that should appear in the field; in addition, if more than one answer is available, Geni displays all of the possible entries for quick reference and selection.
- Quick-Pick Lists
are generated from integrated data contained in the setup, case management and accounting features of the program to make data selection quicker and learning how to use Geni faster.
- Help Screens
are available by pressing the Help button on the Taskbar at each level of the program or Ctrl+H on pop-up screens so each user can “learn as you go.”
Vendor information is created and saved for checks and correspondence. To create or change existing vendor information, access the Vendor Information Database by clicking on CHECKBOOK > VENDOR INFO on the main Taskbar from anywhere in the Geni Law program.
Here is a view of both completed and blank vendor information profiles as they appear on the screen:
The gray highlight bar appears on a blank profile at the bottom of the screen. The clear profiles represent saved profiles. Information entered in the highlighted profile will not be saved until you press Ctrl+Enter. Each blank field in Vendor Information contains a brief explanation of the information required to complete that field.
Complete the Vendor Information profile by tabbing through the following fields:
|#-||Federal ID number.|
|GP-||Enter “B” for a business entity or “P” for an individual.|
|TYPE-||Enter the Vendor Type from the quick-pick list consisting of the vendor types created in the Setup Codes process.|
|AD-||First, or main, street address. Enter the PO Box here if used by the client for his/her main address. There is a space available for a second street address, if necessary.|
|ZIP-||Enter the Zip Code.|
|CTY-||Enter the City.|
|ST-||Two-letter State abbreviation; a quick-pick list will appear upon entering the first letter; complete typing or scroll and click on the desired State.|
|PHO 1-||Enter vendor’s primary phone number.|
|PHO 2-||Enter vendor’s secondary phone number.|
|FAX-||Enter the vendor’s fax number.|
|EMAIL-||Enter the vendor’s email address.|
|CUSTOMER NUMBER-||Enter the customer number assigned to your account, if available.|
|CONTACT-||Enter the primary contact person for the vendor.|
|TITLE-||Enter the Title used for the vendor; this information appears in the appropriate merge field for letters or other auto-documents; a quick-pick list will appear; complete typing or click on the desired Title.|
|NICK-||Enter the nickname; i.e., a vendor’s first name is Theodore but everyone calls him Ted|
|SALU-||Enter the name used for Salutation; this information appears in the appropriate merge field for letters or other auto-documents; i.e., a vendor’s first name is Henry but he insists or you are familiar with him enough to use Hank for the Salutation (otherwise, use Henry for letters or other documents)|
|(blank field)||Use to enter pertinent notes about the vendor.|
Press Ctrl+S or Ctrl+Enter to save the entry.
|Active||Select “A”ctive, “I”nactive, or “B”oth; default is “A”ctive.|
|Vendor Code||Use the quick-pick list to select the vendor name; default is ALL.|
|Vendor Type||Use the quick-pick list to select the vendor type; default is ALL.|
Click the SEARCH button for the search results or press ESC to return to the previous screen.
|Print Order||Select “A”lpha or Vendor “T”ype; default is Alpha.|
|Vendor Code||Select from the quick-pick list consisting of the vendor names; default is ALL.|
