Division Setup

Ways to get help while you work:

  • Handy Tool Tips
    for each field on every screen. When you hover in a particular field, Geni gives you hints about the information that should appear in the field; in addition, if more than one answer is available, Geni displays all of the possible entries for quick reference and selection.
  • Quick-Pick Lists
    are generated from integrated data contained in the setup, case management and accounting features of the program to make data selection quicker and learning how to use Geni faster.
  • Help Screens
    are available by pressing the Help button on the Taskbar at each level of the program or Ctrl+H on pop-up screens so each user can “learn as you go.”

Create a Division profile for each of the firm’s attorneys or profit centers. With GENI LAW you have the ability to set up an unlimited number of Division Codes to represent not just your own attorneys and profit centers but special counsel, mass tort, and complex litigation cases and expenses as well. “DIVCOD” is a maximum three-letter abbreviation you create to identify the Division (attorney). Additional divisions may be added, and each division will have a unique division code.

From the main Taskbar, click on SETUP > DIVISIONS SETUP to open Setup Divisions from the anywhere in the Geni Law program.

Upon clicking on the Divisions Setup tab, the profile overlay screen opens:

Enter the pertinent information by tabbing through the fields.

Fields may be left blank and completed later, but you must enter at least one Division name and DIVCOD (marked in RED) to proceed with the SETUP process. You can also enter a separate State ID and State Unemployment ID number if an attorney practices in more than one state.

DIV NAME- Enter the name of the attorney or profit center; both can be “you” particularly in solo and small law firms
DIV CODE- Enter a three-letter name code for the Division; it’s okay to use the same code as the REP CODE if it’s the same person
BRANCH OFFICE- Enter the code for the branch office for the Division if applicable
AD1- Enter the street address (or building name if used)
AD2- Enter the street address and suite number if building name is used, or enter suite number if applicable
ZIP- Enter zip code and press tab; the city and state auto fill
CTY- Auto filled
ST- Auto filled
PHONE- Enter phone number
FAX- Enter fax number
EMAIL ADR- Enter email address

Press Ctl+Enter to save the information before leaving the Setup Division screen.

After saving the information for the first division, an empty profile will appear at the bottom of the screen. As you continue to work in the Setup Division screen, the gray highlight bar will default to the empty division profile. The gray highlight bar will move up or down to other division profiles as you use the arrow or Page Up/Page Down keys.

To delete a profile, place the cursor on the item to be deleted, press Ctl+Del, answer “Yes” to the prompt.

Press the SEARCH button to search through multiple divisions.

Press the PRINT button to print a complete list of Divisions.

Press ESC to return to the previous screen.
