Ways to get help while you work:
- Handy Tool Tips
for each field on every screen. When you hover in a particular field, Geni gives you hints about the information that should appear in the field; in addition, if more than one answer is available, Geni displays all of the possible entries for quick reference and selection.
- Quick-Pick Lists
are generated from integrated data contained in the setup, case management and accounting features of the program to make data selection quicker and learning how to use Geni faster.
- Help Screens
are available by pressing the Help button on the Taskbar at each level of the program or Ctrl+H on pop-up screens so each user can “learn as you go.”
Most of the information has already been entered for you, but you must erase the question marks (?????) – as shown in the second image below – and enter the name(s) of your bank(s). GENI LAW is pre-installed with three (3) Bank Accounts. They are: “OPR” for Operational (or General) Account; “TRS” for the Trust Account; and “SAV” for a Savings Account (if you now have, or want to later set up, a separate savings account).
On the main Taskbar, click SETUP > BANK ACCOUNTS SETUP from anywhere in the Geni Law program.
Upon clicking the Bank Accounts Setup tab, the Bank Account List opens:
The Bank Account List is necessary as the Bank Codes (“COD”) (OPR, TRS, SAV) are used in both of the Checkbook and Trust Accounting features. Bank Account names can be added or modified anytime by returning to the Setup Bank Accounts screen.
Here are the explanations of each field of the Bank Account List:
|T:||Type of account; i.e., C-Company, D-Division, T-Trust|
|COD:||A three-letter abbreviation created for the names of each bank|
|BANK NAME:||The name of the bank|
|DESCRIPTION:||Describe the type of account|
|ACT NUM:||The account number assigned in the Chart of Accounts|
|DIV:||Assign an account to a Division|
|A:||Allocations; (Y)es or (N)o here indicates that a client payment posted as a deposit in the Trust Account register will be automatically entered in the payment register; Yes has been entered for each bank account|
Press Ctrl+S or Ctrl+Enter to save new information before leaving the Bank Accounts Setup screen.
After entering and saving information for a new Bank Account, that account profile will appear in a clear row directly above an empty, highlighted row. As you continue to work in the Bank Account List screen, the gray highlight bar will default to an empty profile at the bottom, and all of the created Bank Accounts profiles will appear in ascending order above the empty profile. Each time you enter the Bank Account List screen, an empty, highlighted profile will always appear at the bottom of the screen. The gray highlight bar will move up or down to other Bank Account profiles as you use the arrow or Page Up/Page Down keys.
To delete a data row or profile, highlight the item to be deleted, press Ctrl+Delete and answer “Yes” to the prompt.
Press SEARCH to search the Bank Accounts profiles. This database is searchable by All or a specific Bank Code.
Press PRINT to print a complete list of Bank Accounts.
Press ESC to exit this screen.
